Opal Fruits was once known for its chewy sweets. However, they don't contain any animal products. These sweets do contain palm oil (also known as palm fat), which could pose a problem to vegans.

Another solid entry from the very decent range of vegan sweets from Swizzels, Refreshers were launched in 1955 and soon gained popularity for their zesty flavour.
Note that for this article we are focussing on sweets in the traditional sense, that is those that come in packets, such as Starburst or Skittles (both of which have longer articles elsewhere on the site considering their vegan – or otherwise – credentials), or those you might have ordered a quarter of in your local newsagent, back in the day (assuming you’re old enough!). Jelly Tots, made by Rowntrees, an iconic sweet company in history that Nestle now owns, have been around since 1965. They've been loved by children who travel long distances to get them. They only contain vegan-friendly ingredients. But, it is important to note that jelly Tots are also made in factories handling gelatine. This could lead to some vegans choosing not to eat them.
